Frequently Ask Questions
Washington Heights is a multi site church in northern Utah. We are one church with campuses in Downtown Ogden and South Ogden (view locations here).
Our mission as a church is to “Help people meet and follow Jesus.” There’s a lot going on around our campuses, but you’ll find that introducing people to Jesus along the Wasatch front is the thing we are the most passionate about.
No. Anyone is welcome to attend one of our campuses. In addition, we recognize that membership in any local church is not required for salvation or to have a relationship with God. Once you’ve been around for a while and are ready to call a Washington Heights campus “home,” your next step is to attend a membership class at your campus to find out what it means to be a member at Washington Heights Church.
No. Tithing was never intended to be a requirement for church involvement. The biblical example of tithing is a teaching tool intended to help us be generous with what God has entrusted to us. We believe that God wants to lead us toward a more and more generous lifestyle as we commit our resources to God and to His efforts to bless a broken and hurting world.
Baptism is the public celebration announcing your personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Jesus was baptized and asks us to follow His example:
“Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” (Mathew28:18-20a)
Baptism does not gain us any extra favor with God. Baptism is done in obedience to Christ. The original word in the Bible for baptized is “baptizo” and its specific meaning is “to immerse in a body of water.” If you’re ready to take the plunge and publicly affirm your faith in Jesus through baptism, you can find out more information about upcoming baptism dates here.
Yes, we are a part of the Conservative Baptist America association of churches, although leadership direction is provided by our staff and other leaders at Washington Heights Church. We are also financially self-supported by the generous giving of those who attend our campuses.
