Simply put, our mission is: Helping People Meet and Follow Jesus. As we enter a transformative "Season of Love Leaves a Legacy " we are thrilled to invite you to be part of a significant new chapter in our church’s history. Our heart is to connect individuals with Jesus and nurture their spiritual growth. This mission stems from a clear directive given by Jesus to His followers: to “Go and make disciples,” teaching them everything He taught. Our commitment is to reach out to those who have not yet discovered this relationship and to help deepen the faith of those who have.
Since our inception in 1955, Washington Heights has been dedicated to serving our community and expanding God’s love to our surrounding community and around the world. Our history is marked by bold decisions driven by our mission.
Today, we stand at another pivotal moment. With a remarkable 25% growth in the past year alone, our existing facilities are no longer sufficient to meet the needs of our expanding congregation. We believe it is time to take a courageous step forward to ensure that we can continue to come and serve even more individuals seeking a connection with Jesus.
Our vision for the future involves a major expansion of our current facilities. This project is not about buildings. It is about people that matter to God and to us. The planned expansion will include a new auditorium with a seating capacity of approximately 1,500, as well as additional spaces designed to enhance guest services and support. The initial cost of the project, 9.8 million, was increased due to member feed back encouraging the addition of a road to enhance parking and a balcony for future growth. At present, the total cost of the project is 12.3 million.
This expansion is driven by our unwavering belief that everyone was made for a relationship with God. Our expansion is designed to accommodate more people, provide a welcoming environment, and support the diverse needs of our growing community.
We invite you to be a part of this exciting journey. Your involvement, whether through prayer, financial support, or volunteering, will play a crucial role in the success of this project. This project needs us all to commit personally. Thank you for your continued support and commitment to Washington Heights Church. As we embark on this new chapter, let us remember that our efforts are ultimately about people—lives transformed by the power and love of God and leaving a lasting legacy of faith and love.
Thank you for taking the time to review our goals for the “Love Leaves a Legacy” Expansion project and for praying about what God would have you do. Every gift is significant, so be faithful to whatever God would have you do.
