Washington Heights Church

Kidz

Welcome!

We are glad you are here. We exist to help children and their families meet and follow Jesus!

Washington Heights
Kidz Program

We live out our mission by equipping children with the ability to trust Jesus, share their faith, provide service and outreach to their communities, and discover God’s plan for their lives through Jesus.

WHC Kidz is available for all children, infant through 3rd grade during our Sunday services in person and online through weekly videos and at-home mailers. Through the joining of the WHC Kidz Team and partnering parents, children enjoy a dynamic atmosphere of activities in age-appropriate settings. Included are skits, songs, games, and Bible teaching in large and small groups.

We offer a safe environment beginning with a quick and secure computer check-in and out system. Because your child’s safety is a high priority, each volunteer is screened with a background check and interviewed prior to serving. Please stop by our New Here/Start Here kiosk for directions to WHC Kidz.

We have programs for all ages and abilities during our weekend services and special events held throughout the year!

Nursery
(0-3 Years)

Infants (0-16 months) are all in their own room together with multiple volunteers to love and care for them as needed with multiple toys and items to help them thrive in a safe comfortable environment. Toddlers (17 months-3 years old) are separated by gender into 2 or 3 year old classrooms where they have toys to play with, color sheets and activities to go along with the songs and Bible story they are learning that week!

Pre-Kinder
(4-5 Years)

Preschool and Kindergarten aged children have their own special area where they all enjoy a fun playtime with toys and interactive games. They also enjoy a large group setting where they get to sit together and listen to a message with worship songs and a Bible story brought practically and on their age appropriate level. They end their hour with a Small Group time that includes practical questions, prayer, games, and interaction with children their age.

Elementary
(1st-3rd Grade)

Elementary aged children enjoy Small and Large Group time together in age and gender separated groups! They begin their service with Small Group time getting to know each other and reviewing the story they will be seeing brought to life in their Large Group setting. The Large Group is brought to them via an emcee guiding the lesson along worship songs, a Bible story video, an object lesson and even sometimes a fun interactive game! They finish out their day in their small group with some thoughtful age-appropriate questions, a fun activity and interaction with their peers and their Leaders.

WHC Friendz (Special Needs)

11AM Service Only

A place where special needs children (12 and under) have a customized experience specific to their needs. They enjoy a small group time with other special needs children, in an environment where they can be successful. They then transition to Large Group, in our larger than life all area integrated experience with other Elementary aged children. There they see each week’s Bible lesson brought to life, through video, worship songs, and a live emcee. WHC Friendz returns to their small group room and ends their time with a guided activity/coloring sheet and sensory time. We exist to create a place where special needs children can meet and follow Jesus.

What to Expect

SAFETY

We provide a safe learning environment for all children. It begins with a secure check in/out system where we gather all your contact information and photos to identify who is checking the child out before releasing them after the service. Our rooms are filled with volunteers who are interviewed, background and reference checked. Rosters are also checked during service to verify all children are in the appropriate assigned group. We are also staffed every week with a roaming security team who checks multiple doors/exits that help to ensure the safety of everyone in attendance.

IN PERSON

We offer dynamic age-appropriate learning environments for all children. These include caring volunteers, interactive and informational age-appropriate videos, activities, games, songs and dancing! Children are given multiple environments to learn about the love of Jesus with other children their age through a small group setting and through a large group setting! They are informed daily about the love of Jesus and are taught how to apply what they learn in the Bible in practical real life ways!

ONLINE

We offer a weekly video for children through multiple platforms! Children are invited to read and follow along with the online videos through a weekly at home mailer. This mailer includes Conversation Questions to ask after the video, a Big Idea reminder and a Bible story/verse reference. The mailer also includes a color sheet, relevant letter and a special surprise which can range from a sticker to a pipe cleaner to a bracelet. The videos are fun and dynamic and include worship songs, object lessons, special guests and a Bible story cartoon all to help bring the Bible story and message to life in a practical and age appropriate way!
